Happy New Year!

Please join us this Saturday, January 18 at 10 a.m. at our normal meeting place, The Bell Tower classroom for our monthly meeting.

Bullet Journaling has been around for over 10 years, but interest in this method of personal organization is still going strong! Amy Owens will be teaching our guild an introduction to the “BuJo” system on Saturday, January 18 at the Evendale Cultural Arts Center.

Bullet journaling combines elements of mindfulness, productivity, and self-discovery to allow you to track the past, organize the present, and plan for the future in a single notebook. The two-hour session will introduce you to the basics of how to organize your journal with scheduling, reminders, to-do lists, brainstorming, and other organizational tasks. Of course we will use our lettering, calligraphy, and illustration skills to make our journals beautiful as well! This is the perfect “planner” for those interested in adding a touch of creativity to their daily organizational method.

Please bring:

  • A5 dot grid journal (Other notebooks can work, but this is the most popular and what Amy will be using to teach) Here is an affordable option from Amazon
  • Pencil
  • Eraser
  • 12″ or smaller ruler
  • Microns or other thin tip pens
  • Colored pencils, brush markers, Crayola SuperTip markers, Zebra Mildliner highlighters, gel pens or other tools for adding color and decoration to your journals – bring what you have and what you are most comfortable with! The sky’s the limit.

Optional Supplies:

  • Bullet Journal stencils (an example here)
  • circle / oval / drafting templates
  • Washi Tape
  • Stickers

Pick up artwork

For those of you who donated artwork for the upper hallway and would like to pick it up on that meeting day, let me know and I’ll arrange it. I won’t be able to be there on the 18th but can meet you there on the 11th or another day as needed.

Ideas needed

We still have ‘TBD’ for our March and May meetings so if anyone has some suggestions, please let us know. We could do a paste paper workshop, or learning a new Hand or anything else really. So, throw your ideas at  us.

Graceful Envelope

The Washington Calligraphers Guild is pleased to announce the 2025 Graceful Envelope Contest theme — “Go Fourth” — because we’ve reached the first quarter of this century, or one-fourth of 100 years. Explore something that comes in fours, is associated with sets of four, or is commonly cut into fourths. For example, the phases of the moon, the points of a compass, the seasons, an apple that’s been quartered.

Then, using artistry, hand lettering, and the integration of postage stamps into your design, create an envelope that captures your interpretation of the theme. For inspiration, view past winning envelopes. Only the front of the envelope will be judged, and in four age categories: adults and three student divisions. Please pass along this email to letter lovers and your children’s art teachers.

There is no entry fee; only one entry per person. Postmark deadline: Monday, March 31, 2025. The complete call for entries is here, but if you still have questions, contact contest committee member Rosalee Anderson at rosaleescribe@gmail.com

Notes:

Some of our meetings will need to be held in the main Evendale Cultural Arts Building off Reading Rd. This affects our November, March and April meetings, due to event conflicts. I will try to point that out in upcoming e-mails and added it to the side calendar at the left.Stay Creative. Stay Safe. Be Well.

The Greater Cincinnati Calligrapher’s Guild is open to anyone with an interest in the lettering arts.
